Land Rover Discovery 4 Lowering Kit
Basic Overview
The lowering kit for Land Rover Discovery 4 (L319, LR4) is specially designed for factory electronic air suspension (EAS) models, used to adjust vehicle ride height for a sportier, streamlined stance while retaining most original air suspension functions. The most popular version is adjustable lowering sensor links, the mainstream choice for street modification enthusiasts.
Product Principle
The kit replaces the stock suspension height control links with shortened adjustable connecting rods. By modifying the signal feedback range of the EAS height sensors, the vehicle’s ECU receives an adjusted height signal, lowering the whole body without cutting or replacing air springs, shock absorbers or air compressors.
Adjustable Drop Range
- Mild drop: 20–25 mm, ideal for daily commuting, barely sacrificing off-road ground clearance
- Medium drop: 30–35 mm, the most popular setup for balanced appearance and daily drivability
- Extreme drop: 40 mm, not recommended for regular use, prone to bottoming out and EAS error codes
Core Advantages
- Full retention of original air suspension features: access height, off-road raise mode, automatic load leveling and weight compensation
- Simple bolt-on installation, no wiring modification, no disassembly of air bags
- Height adjustable after installation; easy to revert to factory stock height by reinstalling original links
- Cost-effective compared to full air spring replacement lowering kits
- Compatible with all Discovery 4 trim levels equipped with factory EAS air suspension
Disadvantages & Precautions
- If lowered more than 30 mm, the access height mode will press the bump stops tightly, triggering EAS warning lights on the dashboard
- Excessive lowering shortens the service life of air springs, shock boots and control arm bushings
- After installation, professional diagnostic tools (IIDTool/SDD) are required to clear fault codes and recalibrate suspension height values
- Sharp speed bumps, steep driveways and rough off-road trails should be avoided with medium or extreme drop setups
Installation Notes
- Lift the vehicle safely on an auto lift before removing factory height links
- Adjust the four links symmetrically to keep the body level left and right, front and rear
- Complete suspension height calibration via professional Land Rover diagnostic equipment post-installation
- Check tire fender clearance thoroughly; fit narrower tires or wheel spacers if rubbing occurs
Application Scenarios
Perfect for highway driving, city cruising and show car styling. Not suitable for frequent heavy off-roading or heavy load hauling with maximum lowering settings.
